Beyond the Classroom: Co-Curricular and Trips
Learning Beyond the Classroom
At Jeannine Manuel School, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Across every year group, students take part in experiences that enrich the curriculum, spark curiosity and encourage them to apply their learning in new and meaningful ways. Whether through educational visits, competitions, collaborative projects or cultural experiences, these opportunities help students develop confidence, creativity and a lifelong love of learning.
Learning Through Experience
Experiential learning is woven throughout the curriculum. Students investigate, create, perform, compete and collaborate, making meaningful connections across subjects while developing new skills and perspectives.
They might explore the collections of the British Museum or the Natural History Museum, experience live performances at the Rainbow Theatre or Shakespeare's Globe, take part in competitions such as the Concours Kangourou des Mathématiques or creative writing challenges, or create ambitious collaborative projects such as the Early Years' "Around the World Museum". These experiences encourage curiosity, independence and a deeper engagement with learning.
London as Our Classroom
Our central London location provides exceptional opportunities to enrich learning across every subject. Regular visits to museums, galleries, theatres and historic landmarks allow students to engage with ideas first-hand, whether sketching at the Tate Modern, exploring design at the Victoria and Albert Museum, investigating science at the Science Museum, or discovering history at the Tower of London. These authentic experiences bring classroom learning to life and help students see London as an extension of their classroom.
Further afield
As students progress through the school, residential trips and international connections encourage greater independence, resilience and collaboration. Closely linked to the curriculum, residential trips to destinations such as Normandy and the Loire Valley allow students to bring their learning to life while challenging themselves, strengthening friendships and broadening their understanding of the world. Students also benefit from opportunities to connect with our sister schools in Paris and Lille, for example through our Printemps des Jeunes Auteurs bilingual writing competition.
