Middle School Curriculum

Guided by native-speaking teachers, students continue their bilingual journey through a rigorous curriculum taught in both French and English. Drawing on the strengths of the French and British educational traditions, our Middle School programme encourages intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and collaborative learning across all subjects.

Alongside core academic studies, distinctive programmes such as Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) nurture a lifelong love of reading, while our French+ and English+ specialist programmes enables students who are learning these languages to thrive within our bilingual and multicultural environment. During these formative years, students also begin preparing for official qualifications, including IGCSEs and the Diplôme National du Brevet International (DNBi), steadily building the skills, confidence, and independence needed for success in Upper School and beyond.

Examinations and Academic Achievement in Middle School

Throughout Middle School, students progressively prepare for a range of internationally recognised qualifications that reflect the depth and ambition of our bilingual curriculum. In Year 10, students sit the Diplôme National du Brevet International ("DNBi"), a qualification that recognises both their academic achievement within the French curriculum and their bilingual, bicultural education.

Students also begin preparing for IGCSE examinations, with English Language and English Literature taken by all students in Year 11. Preparation for these examinations is embedded naturally into daily learning, helping students build strong academic foundations, effective study habits, and growing confidence in both French and English. Alongside subject knowledge, students develop key skills such as critical thinking, written analysis, organisation, and intellectual independence - all essential for success in Upper School and beyond.
